CRAFTIVISM

‚Craftivism‘ is a Photo Documentary with the Danish Red Cross and Nørklerne, a group of primarly elderly women in Copenhagen reusing textiles. They sew, knit, and mend leftover fabric into clothes to which is then donated through the Danish Red Cross for people in need. This photo series showcases the people involved, the materials they use, and their dedicated effort in repurposing leftover fabric. Every Monday, they gather to knit, with coffee and cake served.

The project delves into Scandinavia‘s knitting and crafting traditions, highlighting their principles, motivations, and significance in valuing textiles. It explores the dynamics between fast and slow fashion, contrasting their influences on societal trends and consumption habits. Investigating the origins of our clothes, their production and the waste they generate.
